The "sober curious" movement is what inspired this on-campus organization. This movement is to try to remove the stigma that you have to be an alcoholic to want to be sober (that not everyone who is choosing to be sober was an alcoholic). The movement is based on "sober curious" people who have seen how alcohol impacts them and chooses to be sober for physical or mental reasons and people who have gotten there by questioning and getting curious on how alcohol makes them feel.
The Drunk On Life at WCU organization is here to remove the stigma that you have to be an alcoholic to want to be sober, and to create a new stigma that it is cool for students to be sober and just be themselves when they come to college. This organization is designed to create a family or community of likeminded individuals who want to be sober, where they feel like it's cool and can still have fun and do social things without alcohol being involved and if some people do choose to drink while in this organization and are of age (21+) then that's okay too, but it's in very low amounts and very rare because you're still being very cautious and aware and are still thinking about how alcohol can affect you physically or mentally. This club is a place where everyone is invited and included regardless of gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, or anything. Our big goal is that as an organization, thinking not just how many people can we create a family for in a year from now but 20 years from now, how many people could this help feel loved and belonged
We love to welcome people in and making them feel loved and comfortable with being themselves!
